The Story

Outburst Intervals began in 2019 as an idea that was bigger than a record label.

Music was the starting point, but it was never meant to be the whole destination. I've always been fascinated by the way creativity behaves in nature, arriving in bursts rather than on a schedule, indifferent to quarters, campaigns or algorithms. The sun works the same way. For long stretches it sits calm, and then without warning it releases immense outbursts of light, radiation and charged particles. Scientists can explain a lot about these events, but even they can't predict exactly when the next one will hit.

Creating has always felt that way to me too. Some months almost nothing leaves the studio. Then a few weeks come along where ideas won't stop. Some of it becomes music. Some of it becomes films, installations, performances, publications or collaborations. Timing matters as much as the work itself, and Outburst Intervals was built around trusting that: we measure creativity by resonance, not frequency, and the best work tends to show up when the timing feels inevitable rather than convenient.

It truly began in 2020 with three releases: On.A.Ride, the Future Films EP and the Counting.Backwards video. There was never a rush to build a roster or chase momentum, just years spent learning, experimenting and building relationships with artists whose work genuinely resonated.

I want every release to feel like an event rather than something that just passes through a feed, so we'd rather build real relationships with listeners than chase fleeting visibility.

The artists on Outburst Intervals come from different backgrounds, locations and disciplines, some through established labels, others releasing independently for the first time, held together by curiosity and a belief that experimentation and accessibility can live in the same place at the same time. Even the most independent artists thrive with a strong creative community around them, and that's the ecosystem I've tried to build: producers, mix and mastering engineers, photographers, graphic designers, filmmakers, moving image artists and event producers, many of them wearing several of those hats at once, some of them artists on the roster too. Creativity doesn't respect job titles, and that's intentional.

That community lives both in person and remotely. We build slowly, and our base moves to wherever we want to activate, whether that's through our own roster or the wider web of partnerships and collaborations we've built with other labels, venues and spaces.

All it takes is a spark.

Six years after it started, 2026 feels like the beginning of a new chapter. Technology has changed what an independent label can be, and discovery shouldn't live or die by an advertising budget or a social algorithm. After nearly a decade in the making, Outburst Intervals has become a family, and it earned that word through the people it found, not through numbers or scale. Together we've found a home, and with it, the space to grow, collaborate and outburst further. We're not racing to move faster than everyone else. We're trying to move at the right moment, the way our namesake does, trusting that creative energy has its own rhythm and that the quiet stretches matter just as much as the bursts.
